This year I'm doing a 3 part series for my bday. One weekend in Dallas, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. Last night was the first night in Dtown. I had sooo much fun! Can't wait to see what the rest of the weekend brings:)

The hub and I have been in Dallas for the past week/2 weeks for his job. For those who don't know, he was drafted to the Mavericks in 2008 and has been owned by them ever since. They've been practicing this summer and he will be playing for them in summer league starting tomorrow in Vegas. When I first got to Dallas, he gave me a tour of the AA center and their locker room, offices, etc. I absolutely love Dallas and have had an amazing time here. I hope that he will stay with the Mavs and we can settle down in the D!:)

This is the actual arena where the Mavs play. They had an indoor football game that same day, so it wasn't set up for bball.

The Excellent Wife

Unfortunately, college has tainted my love for reading, so I rarely pick up a book for leisure. Lately however, being a newlywed and all, I have craved for a good book that relates to where I'm at in life and in marriage. I wanted almost an instructional guide on how to be a godly wife and the principles I should follow. I came across this book in Borders The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace. So far I've only read the preface, but it touches on such topics as duties of a wife, being a godly wife, and submission. I have a feeling that there is a TON for me to learn from this book. Once I am finished with it, I will come back with a more detailed review.

SF Foundation Celebrity Basketball Game Fundraiser

The Shan Foster Foundation held its first annual Celebrity Basketball Game on May 22nd in efforts to raise money for the foundation and those who were affected by the Nashville flood. Various NFL, NBA, WNBA, and other notables volunteered their time and energy to battle it out on the court. Not only was the event a success, but a ton of fun!

I've recently been on the go tons, but you know I have to make time for fun;) Recently we spent a day at Opry Mills and I just had to take a picture with this adorable shark. We also hosted our first party at our place. We had so much food, drinks, and fun. I can't wait to have another one!

Foundation Lock in Event

A while ago the hubs and I traveled to New Orleans for a Shan Foster Foundation even. It was a laser tag lock-in for the children involved in the upcoming youth cotillion by the SF foundation. We had so much fun! We played laser tag, drove bumper cars, ate pizza, and stayed up ALL night. Kids really do know how to have fun. It felt good to just kick back for a night and forget my cares.

I haven't blogged in forever and I feel horrible! I said I was going to do better this year with keeping up my blog, however, I just started a new job full time and am trying to transition as well as keep up my duties as a wife and prepare for all my various upcoming events. A Loonnnngg Awaited Update

Wow...where has the time gone?! We have been back in the states for about a month now and I feel like I haven't stopped going since we touched down. We got back at the beginning of February just in time for the superbowl.

We were obviously stoked that the Saints won. We literally started partying from that moment until the end of Mardi Gras!! lol

This picture was taken during Mardi Gras at a balcony party on Bourbon. As expected Bourbon was beyond rediculous. Fortunately we were able to party inside and throw beads from a balcony. This particular party was sponsored by Malibu. We had an amazing time. SOO much fun!

We also spent our first married Valentine's day together (awww lol). My hubby showered me with lots of gifts and love. It was such a special first Valentines:)

We finally made it back to Nashville in time for the Vandy v. Kentucky game. Although we didn't pull out a win, our boys played hard. It was so good to be back at my alma mater! I almost shed a few tears. It really made me miss all those years of watching Shan play in Memorial.

So that's our crazy life as of recent in a nutshell. Both the husband and I have a million and one projects going on right now. So we are definitely staying busy. More to come soon!

Weekend Trip to Instanbul and Last Days In Antalya

This past weekend I took a wonderful trip to Istanbul with my husband and his team. We stayed in a hotel called "Titanic City". Supposedly it's the same size and shape of the real Titanic ship! I got to experience more Turkish food and just get away and be pampered! All around it was an amazing change of scenery and a chance to experience a new part of Turkey.

We are officially leaving for the airport in an hour and a half. We have a flight to Istanbul from Antalya then Paris to Atlanta, and finally Atlanta to New Orleans. I'm definitely all about superbowl and hanging with family this weekend:) GEAUX SAINTS!!

Bible in a Year

As a part of my New Years Resolution and journey to better myself while gaining a closer relationship with the Lord, I decided to try to read the bible in a year. So far with just the small amount of the bible that I have read, I have already learned sO much. While at times I have struggled keeping up each day with the chapters, I always catch up on the weekend. I have found it to be enlighting, inspiring, and encouraging. I would encourage anyone who can take ten minutes out of your day every day to read a scripture or two to do so. It is such an amazing experience and journey. And it is an honor to say that you have read the bible in a year. Good luck!

Good Morning!

This morning after my workout I decided to treat myself to something sweet and fruity. No I didn't go to Jamba Juice or Smoothie King. Here they have smoothie places that only make REAL fruit smoothies. You pick the fruit and they juice it whole right in front of you. I got two- one with pineapples, apples, and strawberries. The other one had yogurt, banana, carrot, and apple. They were both amazing. I will certainly miss this au natural experience when we get back to the states.

Anniversary Location

Today hubs surprised me with where we're going to spend our 1 year anniversary- MIAMI!!! So you know what that means? Time to start planning....not to mention bikini shopping;) It will be good to get away and just go on a vacation since we are never really able to do so. And to spend my 1 year anniversary in my favorite place will be awesome. Ok....off to plan!

Moving Back Home

Hey everybody! I hope you've enjoyed reading about my experiences here in Turkey, because we are leaving soon. Yep that's right. We are moving back to the states for a while. Hubby's injury requires more attention before summer league starts, and America is the best place for that to happen. I am sad to leave Turkey and everything I have come to love about it, including the food. But I am very excited to be back home in my comfort zone and to see friends and family again. Living in another country is so much fun, but there's no place like home! But since we are leaving soon I am focused now more than ever on enjoying my experience here. I will be blogging and tweeting about it along the way, so stay tuned!

I haven't blogged since Thanksgiving because I've been busy with a myriad of other things, most importantly taking care of my husband throughout his injury. But I have vowed in 2010 that I will blog more consistently. EsPeCiAlLy since this will be an exciting year;) Last night we celebrated New Years Eve here in Turkey and had an amazing time. I think the Turkish party harder than the Italians! I hope everyone had an amazing holiday and has a happy and prosperous 2010. Here's to a new and exciting year!:)

Thanksgiving European Style

This Thanksgiving turned out to be one of my favorite. Despite the fact that there was no turkey or dressing or pie, I felt happy, blessed, and thankful to be with the one I love. Ironically enough they don't sell or serve turkey in Turkey lol So we went out to dinner at a restaurant by the beach called Shakespeare Bistro. We talked about what were thankful for and just enjoyed each other's company. It was a great night. Now on to shopping!

9 Holes of Golf

Hubs, friends, and I played a round of golf today. It was so much fun despite the fact that I didn't hit any of my balls lol The course was beautiful and the weather was perfecto. Shan successfully ran into two things in the golf cart. Unsuprisingly he drives a golf cart like he does cars! haha

Goldiggers and Reality TV. Thoughts, Questions, and Comments.

What is your definition of a goldigger? Recent happenings and discussions have caused me to look at my own views of what this word means that is used so often throughout the black community. What exactly is a goldigger? In my opinion it is someone who dates, sleeps with, marries a man, etc. solely because of his bank account. This is an obvious defintion, but sometimes there is an area shaded grey. Is a woman a goldigger if she gets with a guy because of his status? Even if he is not very wealthy? Is a woman a goldigger if she chooses to only date certain men who have certain jobs? Is a woman a goldigger if she does well for herself but will only date men who do the same? These are questions that come up in my head. Because although we all know the stereotypical goldigger as the groupie or the young hot girl dating the older guy, we now know that they come in all forms. But can we truly call a woman a goldigger if she just has high standards or is not getting money in return? What do you think?

Also I've recently been keeping up with RHOA this season. As always drama follows which turns out to be pretty entertaining. But I've also noticed another trend with these "Real Housewives" and other women in the reality television, athletes wives, etc. People seem to be so fascinated with their lives that they are always trying to come up with "dirt" on them. In particular the housewives of ATL seem to be a goldmine of juicy gossip for black women everywhere. I found myself going on the blogs buying into this stream of talk and gossip about them and their secret lives, ex husbands, bad financial statuses and whatnot. But then I had to ask myself something. Why are the main people so quick to tear them down black women? Why is it that other black women feel the need to dig up dirt on these black women? Why do they glory in seeing that their lives might be anything other than what they portray on television? Why do they desire to see another black woman fall? As I began to get sucked into the gossip I realized just how sad it was for me to even be partaking in this. Am I so miserable that I cannot be happy for another woman who is doing well, whether it is real or not? Certainly not. So why do it? We are always complaining about how black women are portrayed in the media. Now that there are women on these shows that are wives, mothers, and entrepreneurs, we can't wait to tear them down. A shame.

Roses and Lunch on the Beach

The other day my husband brought me home a beautiful bouquet of roses. It brought a smile to my face:)

I put them with the other flowers we had in our living room.

Today we ate lunch on the beach. I thought it was going to be burning up, but it was nice and breezy. This is what I ate:

It looks crazy weird, but this is grilled seabream. I was scared at first because I had never eaten a fish like this. But it was sooo good! And it was so peaceful to eat on the beach. I want to go back sometime for lunch again or maybe even dinner.

Today officially marks Shan and I's second month of marriage. Although we didn't decide to "celebrate" we got sushi and a drink at this super nice hotel for lunch today. It was very miami. Very posh and chic. It had a private pool and a private section of the beach. I love doing these "dates" with my hubby. It keeps things fresh and interesting, like you're still dating. Plus it gives me a break from cooking! lol We lounged by the pool bar and took a brief walk on the beach. All around it was a perfect day. I couldn't be any happier with our 2 months so far:)

Shop Till You Drop! Turkey Style.

Today was official shopping day! Gabe and I hit the streets and went shopping here in Antalya. It was yucky and raining so we didn't get to explore every single store, but still did some damage. Suprisingly, the men here are super aggressive. They wouldn't leave us alone! Despite this, we were in heaven one we found this bomb handbag store. I also ended up finding a cute dress and some cute shoes. I was so tired when we got home, that I plopped on the couch and didn't do anything but watch The Game reruns on Youtube lol Also I forgot my camera today:( But I took some with Gabe's, and I will upload once she sends them to me. So tonight it's either sushi with the hub, or me cooking. Personally I think the first option sounds great. Don't you? lol

Happy Birthday Red!

Today was another busy day. Yesterday was Red's birthday, but the guys were out of town. So today we got cake and ice cream and invited a bunch of people over. Some teammates and Shan's coach and his family came over. His coach is so nice and his family is soooo cute. They are from Greece. Next time they're gonna invite uS over and cook some Greek food:) A good time was had by all! We played Wii and PS3 all night. By the end of the night however, I was beat from all the entertaining! And to top it all off I had to cook dinner after everybody left. But all the work was definitely worth it. It cheered everyone up after the loss over the weekend. And I was most excited today because we FiNaLLy got our in internet set up in our apt! Everybody hit me on my Skype;)

Cook, Clean, Be a Beauty Queen

Today was a day that I thought would never end. I took a trip to the mall for a Starbucks run, then cleaned my whole house. We have a penthouse type thing so we have two floors. Let's just say it took me 4 hours of nonstop cleaning. Then I managed to wash, condition, and blow dry my hair just in time to do a load of laundry. Before I made another trip to the mall, flat ironed my hair, gased the car up, and did another load of laundry I managed to slip in a trip to the spa:) I got a mani, pedi, and got my eyebrows done. Also the owner spoke english, which was awesome. So it was pretty much like in the states when you go to the beauty shop or nail salon and gossip with your hairdresser/manicurist lol. I got this amazingly cute pink polish on my hands and toes and got my eyebrows threaded. Yes, threaded. I've heard of this in the states, but never tried it or found anyone who did it. I must say that on some parts it didn't hurt, but others it did! Nonetheless I'm glad I tried it because my eyebrows turned out great! So I guess I'll do it again. A girl should pamper herself every now and then right? ;)

I also managed to whip this up

The name of this dish is "Salmon with Lemon Basil Spaghetti". I stole this recipe fromm my favorite chef- Giada DeLaurentiis. It's healthy, but sooooo yummy. My husband would never eat something like this...so I use the chance when he's away to cook this kind of stuff lol Ok so that's my crazy day in a nutshell. Now just waiting for my hunny to get home:)

Life in Antalya, Turkey:)

So we've been here in Antalya for a few weeks now. Shan is away for the weekend at the Turkish Cup, so I took it upon myself to spend some good quality time with myself at the beach. After spending hours and hours yesterday working on my med school app I thought it only right that I take the day off. It is sooo amazingly beautiful here! I feel like I'm in paradise. This is becoming one of my favorite places:)
